Get More Organic Traffic to Your Website

So now let us get started with this guide and check out how you can get more traffic to your website. There are a number ways by which you can increase the amount of traffic you are currently getting. And these are such few ways by which you can get more organic traffic to your website.

Write Amazing and Long Content

The content you create on your website is the number one reason why you get traffic to your website. Without content, you are going to get no traffic to your website.

Your visitor will not get any kind of value for his time if he or she gets no content on your website.

But while you create the content for your website, create it amazingly and include more and more information in your piece of content.

Here you should note one thing and that is not every word has a value in your content. So it does not mean that you should just include anything so that your content gets longer.

Include only the information that will be useful for the visitor.

The average length of content which ranks in top 10 results in Google SERP is as mentioned below.

Average Content Length of Top 10 Ranks in Google SERP

I got this graph from QuickSprout.Com. The average content length is more than 2000 words. So we can conclude that long content has the capability to rank high in Google SERP.

The higher you rank the more organic traffic you are going to get. This is why you should write long on your website, this will definitely help to your get more traffic.

Keep Updating Your Website

We have already discussed about the content, it is the most important part of the website. To get more and more organic traffic from Google and other search engines you should keep updating your website.

Create a timetable for your website and stick to it.

For example, you can write for your website twice a week. If you are a busy person who does not have time to follow this timetable.

Then you can hire content writers for you. They will write the content for you and all you have to do is proofread it once and hit the publish button.

If you still have confusion and you are unable to figure out how often you have to update your website. Then the article written by Neil Patel can help you to figure it out. Follow this link to read that article.

Target Long Tail Keywords

Along with writing often and writing long you should also have a target keyword for which you would like to rank on Google.

If you are using WordPress SEO by Yoast plugin, I am talking about the focus keyword which you are asked to set while analyzing the SEO score of your content.

If you use long tail keywords you can rank high easily and get a good amount of organic traffic to your website.

But what are long tail keywords?

First, let us understand what are long tail keywords. They are the keywords which contain three or more phrases in them. And these keywords are very specific about what the people are actually searching on Google or any other internet search engine.

So let me give you an example of long tail keywords.

Assume that you are looking for new running shoes for you. And you specifically want to buy the shoes manufactured by Puma only.

Here you are specific about the thing you want to buy for you.

And you are also specific about the brand of your running shoes i.e. Puma. Then what will you search on Google? Note one thing and you want to buy the best that you can get for you.

You want to the best running shoes.

So your search will be something like “which are the best puma running shoes” right?

You will search like this and believe me other people who use the internet also think like the way you think. If you they want to buy new running shoes then they will search with the keywords similar like this only.

Check out the screenshot below.

Google Auto Complete Suggestions

Before I complete my search keyword Google is displaying the suggestion for me. Why is Google doing so? Because people are searching for similar keywords on Google.

You will good results if you target for long tail keywords on your website. This technique is used by many successful bloggers and internet marketers.

The competition for long tail keywords is less when compared to short keywords so you can easily increase website traffic. You can check out the graph below which is created by the Yoast.

Long Tail Keywords

When the competition is less you can easily get good ranks in search engines and thus it will increase website traffic.

I personally use long tail keywords in all the posts I create for my blogs and I am very happy with the results I have got till now.

When this can work for me, and other bloggers it will surely work for you too.

Never Buy Backlinks For Your Website

Backlinks play a very important role in increasing traffic after the content. But you should never violate the webmaster guidelines.

If you violate any of their guidelines then you will attract penalty from them.

Even buying links is a violation of their guidelines. So you should never buy backlinks for your website. If you are getting confused about what I am saying. Then let me explain you things more clearly.

What Does Buying Backlinks Mean?

Normally what happens is when someone likes your content and that person is a webmaster then he or she will link to your content from their content.

This is the right way how a website can get a backlink.

But if you are paying for the person who is adding a backlink your website. Then that is a violation of the webmaster guidelines and this can anger Google.

So this is why you should never buy links for your website. The links which you get naturally can help you get more organic traffic.

If you wish you can quality backlinks by submitting your website to web directories. I have a list of 1000+ high authoritative web directories list.

Speed Up Your Website

Website speed is a very important factor when it comes to getting traffic especially the organic traffic which you get from Google and other search engines.

Google considers the page speed as an important ranking factor so you have to speed up your website.

Sometimes even if you manage ranking high with a slow website which has high response time or loading time. Even then you will loose traffic.

Because most of the people leave your website before it completely loads up. People don’t want to wait for your website to load when they have many other websites listed by Google for the same query.

They just press the back button and select some other website from the search engine results page. In this case, you are losing website traffic.

So if you speed up your website then you will automatically increase website traffic.

Most of us bloggers and internet marketers use WordPress as the content management system. (CMS) And that is why I have mentioned few steps which can help you speed up your website.

But if you are using some other CMS like Drupal etc. You can search speed tips on Google.

Install Lazy Load Plugin

We insert many images in our post content to make it more informative. But you should know one thing and that is every image counts in the total size of your web page.

When your visitor opens your website, then all the images are loaded at once along with your site content. And if you are using Google AdSense or any other platform to monetize your website, even those ads are loaded at once.

This makes your website slow.

But there is a simple solution for this and you can avoid this issue on your WordPress website.

And that is by installing Lazy Load plugin on your WordPress website. If you don’t know how you can install plugins on WordPress website then follow this link to read the guide.

But how lazy load works?

When you install lazy load on your WordPress website the images which you have inserted in your content will load only when they are visible to your visitor. So this will help you to increase website traffic by loading your website faster.

For example, if you have added few images which are in the middle of your content. And he or she is reading the starting part of your content then the images will not be loaded at that movement.

But once your visitor scrolls to the middle of your content the images will be loaded. This helps you bring down the time taken to load your website.

Install Cache Plugin On Your WordPress Website

Lazy load works to improve your website’s speed but it can’t help you alone you can increase website traffic and user experience by using cache plugins.

There are a number of cache plugins which are available in WordPress plugin inventory. Some of them are listed below.

  • WP Super Cache
  • WP Rocket
  • And W3 Total Cache

Install any one of these and get them configured. You can check the results by using GTmetrix and Pingdom Tools.

Maintain Good User Experience

Google loves those websites which offer good user experience to the visitors. So if you have maintained good user experience on your website. Then you can get more organic traffic to your website.

But how can you provide good user experience? That’s the real question now. Read the answer below.

Get a Responsive Theme

These days people are using the internet more on their smartphone than desktop or laptop computer. So your website should be mobile friendly.

You should keep one thing in your mind and that is mobile friendliness of your website is one of the ranking factors. Before some years we use to see a mobile-friendly label in the SERP when we search for something using our smartphone.

It was the time when they had just started considering mobile friendly design as a ranking factor.

Mobile-friendly Label in Google SERP

I am sure you remember this label which Google used to show in the SERP pages on mobile devices. If you don’t remember that then you can check out the screenshot above.

They have dropped this label from the Google SERP page now. We can’t see this label anymore, but I have mentioned this to show you how mobile friendliness matters. 🙂

And this is why you should get a responsive theme for your website. If your current theme is not mobile friendly then believe you can get more organic traffic to your website by switching to a responsive theme.

Improve Website Navigation

Website navigation is a very important thing when it comes to user experience. Use your primary, footer, secondary and main menu wisely on your website.

Include links to every important page of your website from all the pages of your website. I am talking about the pages like about page, privacy policy, disclaimer etc.

These things help the user to navigate on your website clearly. You can read about the 6 easy ways to improve your website’s navigation by following this link to Search Engine Land. They have explained the things very well in the article.

    • Hi, you have to set your long tail keyword as focus keyword.

      Meta Keywords are different things.

But you should keep one thing in your mind and that is Google does not use Meta Keywords as a ranking factor.

So there is no use even if you enter the long tail keywords in Meta keywords section.

But they consider meta description as a ranking factor. So you should tweak your meta description correctly.
